Lanzones Festival 2010

Lanzones Festival is an annual event to celebrate the abundant harvest of the Lanzones (locally known as buahan) and to give thanks to theDiwata (fairy) for the bountiful harvest. The event involves a week-long celebration highlighted by a colorful street dancing and tableau presentation.

Lanzones Festival is celebrated on the third week of October. Events such as cultural concerts and presentations, food and trade expo, "tabo" or gathering of harvests, a pageant, and the must-watch Lanzones Festival street dancing.

Most of the events are held at Camiguin's capital, Mambajao. A cultural presentation detailing an ancient night ritual of thanksgiving to Bathala and the guardians of Camiguin is held at the Old Church ruins in Bonbon, Catarman.

This year's Lanzones Festival marks the 31st year of Camiguin's annual Buwahanan celebration.

The 31st Lanzones Festival is scheduled this coming October 18 - 24, 2010.

As with previous Buwahanan Festivals, the final tableau and street dancing will be held on the weekends - Saturday and Sunday. Other activities such as Search for Miss Buahanan, Dance Contests, Expo, etc are usually scheduled during the weekdays.
